I have many hanging baskets filled with begonias. Can I leave them in the baskets in the same compost overwinter as long as I stop watering them and keep them in a frost free place ?
Thanks

yes that's what I did a few years ago when I was growing them regularly.
then in mid Feb I cleaned them up and put into fresh compost and left un-watered. One year I found vine weevils amongst them so I glad it did.

Seaburngirl if you found vine weevils should I not then remove the corms from the baskets to check them rather than leave them untouched in baskets?

I always take mine out of the baskets and give them a good wash then lay them in seed trays to dry and all the stems and leaves dry and drop off. They stay in trays till spring when they get started up again in compost.

If you have had vine weevils in the past then clean them as Thorney said.
