I usually prune my late flowered clematis hard in early spring before growth starts. But this year, Jan.19th and growth is already starting. Do others agree I should go ahead and prune 1-2 months early?

Oops, I’ve already pruned mine! There wasn’t just new growth but flower buds too.

I personally would wait as any new growth that isn't protected after pruning may succumb to any frosts. I have a similar problem and will definitely wait.
