ID please.
I grew this from a seed. The pod was given to me by a friend who said well what is it? The pod was about 1 inch long, woody and when opened had 3 sections and the seeds looked like small peas.
The autumn foliage is butter yellow. The plant is about 4/5 yrs old and stands at about 12".
It makes me think of a tree pansy but???

well an update. I was at an open garden and bumped into John Grimshaw [director of the Yorkshire arboretum and member of of our local HPS group] and I showed him a photo of this sapling and he said Ceris siliquastrum. Then I noticed the garden owner had some growing in pots for sale and they were a perfect match.
thanks for your help.

apparently they need good drainage so I was advised to dig plenty of grit in.

My first thought was close to yours: cercidiphyllum? I'm unsure, though!
