Ouch! I didn’t realise a Cucumber plant could be so spiteful, picking off all the male flowers was horrible, one off the bristles on the plant penetrate my knuckle on my finger, it is very painful, at first I thought it was Rheumatism but I’m sure it was the flipping plant ;o((
I can’t bend the joint, slightly swollen so no joint wrinkles LOL
So just thought I’d warn you to wear gloves LOL

ooh poor you.
the cucumbers I have grown this year have a very bristle skin. They need to be rubbed down with a cloth before trying to cut them up.

My cucumbers were smooth but it was the vine that got me, I have had a hell of a lot of male flowers that keep appearing all through the day, I keep having to weave my hands through the vine stems, I sure did buy a nasty piece of work with this one, I'll think before I buy next time, I think in the past I bought Telegraph seeds or plants :o))
I still can't bend my finger but its nice & wrinkle free LOL.
Oh! I can't win, I've stubbed my toe on the bath panel now & thats Black & Blue LOL that will teach me to wear something on my feet Dah!

oh poor you Ladyessex1 That is so unfair.
Cucumbers usually are slightly spiny and I don't like the bristly feel to the leaves etc.
I usaully go for a small cuc like Petita. But I 've grown a different one this year. Not that keen on it at all.
Hope you recover soon.

This might sound ridiculous but when I was small the solution to this sort of theing was a bread poultice - it seemed to draw out splinters so it should work for bristles
