can i grow my parrots bill outside over winter

On plant Lotus berthelotii

Answers

No sorry, it's tender. I've managed to keep some over winter in a shed one year when we had a mild one, but even then lost about half.

You cannot over winter the parrot plant out side as it will die. It can be kept indoors as a house plant over winter and then take cuttings in the spring. Treat it as you would do bizzie lizzie. Cuttings root easily in water. Hope this is usefull.

Rohima, the questioner is asking about Lotus berthelotii , not Impatiens niamniamensis. It is a trailing, grey leaved plant with orange "lobster claw" flowers, not the yellow & red cousin of Busy Lizzie. They are both tender, but L. berthelotii doesn't root quite as easily as Impatiens, and I don't know how you'd get on with it on a windowsill as it trails - a lot!

How do I say thanks?
