Tender Salvias? One friend suggested cutting them right down, mulching, then covering with a cloche. Another said don’t cut them down till the Spring … but I suspect that by then they’d be gone! Any ideas please?

Cut them down by 2 thirds. I’m taking it that you mean the shrubby type like Hot Lips. They will grow again in Spring, nice & bushy.

No, the shrubby kind are hardy Josee, so I’m talking about the S. Amistad type.

I usually take security cuttings and keep them frost free. The rest of the plant is cut down to about 1/3 and left to take their chance. Some years it works others it doesn't but the cuttings usually survive ok in E Yorks.

Thanks Eileen, yes I do usually take cuttings and some work. I think I’ll cut back the rest and give them some protection; 🤞

How do I say thanks?
