Conference pears

Hi. I have a pear tree in the back garden ( conference ) and I'm a little unsure of when is the best time to pick the fruit. At the moment the pears look ready but having taken one off and left it to ripen indoors for a week it was still crunchy - tasted nice though. Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks

Put them in the palm of your hand and twist gently, if they come off easily that's O.K. They will keep a long time when picked and stored properly.
