HI I PLANTED A SWEETPEA PLANT THIS YEAR ALTHOUGH IT HAS GROWN REALLY WELL WITH LOTS OF GREENERY THERE HAS ONLY BEEN A FEW FLOWERS, I WAS EXPECTING TO HAVE LOADS! SHOULD I HAVE PICKED WHAT FEW FLOWERS THERE WERE TO ENCOURAGE GROWTH? AND SHOULD I CUT IT BACK FOR WINTER?

Yes you need to continually pick sweet peas to keep them flowering, Once they go to seed the quality and quantity of flowers will diminish. Sweetpeas are annuals (unless its one of the perrenial types you have planted), so you will need to sow fresh seed for next year. I usually sow mine about mid October and overwinter the plants in the greenhouse so they are ready to plant out about March time. But it is a good idea to leave the sweet pea roots in the ground as they are full of nitrogen which will help improve the soil.
