Potato Roots ?
I was asked today which way up to plant the seed potatoes. I have always put the shoots pointing up,but now I am filled with doubt and wondering if I have been doing it wrong for years and years !,Will someone please put me out of my misery ?

I don't think that it really matters, Vera, but we plant ours with the shoots pointing upwards. If we planted them the other way up the shoots would just curl round the tuber and grow upwards.

Just watched them planting potatoes in the fields opposite. It is all done by machine and none of the potatoes are chitted and they are planted which ever way up they fall.

You've been doing it exactly right Vera, though even if planted with the 'eyes' downwards they will still grow okay.
