My Bay Tree seems to be having Babies?!

Hi, I have a bay tree that sits 8ft tall in its pot. This year it has sprouted several shoots at the base of the trunk and I would like to know when and how I can cut these to make individual trees. You may have guessed that I am not particually green fingered but keen to learn! My parents have a green house that I can use but any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

As a general rule you should not let suckers grow on your bay tree.
Cut as hard back as you can.
Make two or three cuttings from each shoot, put round the edge of a pot in the greenhouse.
