my leucanthemums (shasta Daisies) have got lots of their petals "nibbled". Any ideas. Slugs? Birds? Virus?

Previous question
If they are growing against a wall or fence, the chances are it is slugs doing the damage. A slug hunt with a torch after dark may confirm that. Worth a try.
