failed blue potato crop
United Kingdom
Lasy year I planted some blue potatoes and got plenty of leaf growth but no potatoes at the end of the season. They had plenty of compost and manure. Any ideas?

Did you earth them up? Potatoes grow their tubers on buried stems so you need to earth them up once the shoots are 8 inches tall or so. Try again with a more prolific variety.

Hello Hazel, welcome to GOY.
Is your veggie plot very shady?. the manure and compost you use may have been high in Nitrogen, and with a very wet growing season your potatoes will have made only top growth. Were you late in planting?.
Hope this is useful to you.
