Hi All,
This plant has manifested in my garden unbidden,..I have let it grow as I think it quite attractive,...does anyone out there know what it is? It puts me in mind of a cabbage...I am not sure why, because it is not. Although the Cabbage White butterflies seem to love it dearly as do the bees. Whilst taking photo I did notice that it has spotty mould...it seems a bit rife in this garden in late Summer. So guess the plant please!

It certainly looks like cabbage to me.

I think it might be a rapeseed plant.

That's a cabbage family flower and the leaves look rather like broccoli or calabrese. The butterflies seem to think it is too! Odd if you didn't plant it - perhaps a self set from another year?

Does it have a really strong smell, quiet unpleasant? It looks like rapseed to me

Looks like oilseed rape to me as well. It's a brassica = cabbage family, so it's not surprising that the cabbage whites like it.

Rape - that's it - never thought of that as not much is grown round here.

I would suggest removing, not something you want growing in your garden

Oil Seed Rape. The seed probably came from birds feed.

Hi All,
thanks for your input.....it must be Oil Seed Rape, have never seen it growing on it's own outside of a huge field....and I am sure that Bulbaholic is correct also, as this is where I threw feed for the birds all through last winter.
It is an acheivement in some ways as I never grow anything from seed when I try....but seem to have succeeded by accident.
So thanks again and good-night from riot torn London Town.

How do I say thanks?
