How do you tell the differance between a male and female Monkey Puzzle Tree when they are young and before they have produced nuts?

I too saw Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall this evening. He appeared to say that until the monkey puzzle tree has been growing for a great number of years it was impossible to tell which was male or female.
If anyone knows differently I'd be happy to know myself as mine is now over 7feet tall.

Ultimate height for these trees is over 66 feet. They're pretty slow growing, and certainly for anyone over 40, you'll likely be dead before you find out whether you'll get nuts or not...

I too saw the program with the Monkey Trees, the tree that had the Fruit on it was planted in the 1800's when it was a 5yr old plant, also he said you can't tell the differance between Male & Female :o)

No idea - remember the female produces the 'nuts'!
