Can anyone give me some hints of what flowers to plant to discourage greenfly, blackfly, and all the other pests. Marigolds are good with broad beans but dont know any others.

I am not sure if you are trying to grow veg, if so Herbs make good companions, I believe they help keep some of the garden pests away such as you mentioned, I am not sure which is best though, trial and error, they also say that Herbs also make good companion plants in amongst flowers also.
