Why have my tulips all flopped onto the ground?

I planted lots of new tulip bulbs this year. They came up beautifully, with lovely flower heads ready to burst into bloom, and then over a few days all the plants flopped onto the ground, there to remain! Why did this happen?

They may have caught the frost as we have frost again this morning. Leave them now until they are finished and hope they stay up next year.

My little red ridding hood tulips were very nice but short lifted when we got a strong burst of wind .Which blew the pettles off.

I would say that they have dried out. Water the ground round them and they may recover.
