Please could someone identify these plants? They came from in between the gravel of someone's drive & were about the size of a small dandelion last year & have suddenly turned into these aliens! I was told they were borage but I didn't think borage looked like these!

Looks like teasel.

Teasel. They do have lovely seed heads all winter and good for dried flowers, but is a native weed. Plenty of people plant them so up to you if you keep it - gets over 1 metre tall.

There were hundreds of them where these came from and virtually all went in the green recycling! I had three to begin with but took one out as it was taking up too much room. Anyway, I'll look forward to the seedheads - hopefully there will be more goldfinches this year.
