Mystery plant 2
I need an identification of this plant and apologise for making it more difficult than it should be as the background is very confusing. The plant in question has a yellow flower, one of which is in the centre of the photo with another two above it and to the right. The leaves are immediately below the centre flower, one close and another two at the bottom of the picture. It is quite tall and leggy and I'd like to put a name to it if anyone can sort it out from the background.

Pretty sure it is a wild geum, or avens. It comes up everywhere here too. So depending on your definition, it's a weed.

Geum urbanum, and the bane bit is right. It is an absolute thug from seed. Don't ever, ever, ever let it flower.

Thanks folks, I'll be out there crack of dawn tomorrow (if it isn't raining - it rained here for 18 hours non-stop yesterday, so I'm not too worried about the hosepipe ban!). I think I'll have to resort to digging it out, the roots are certainly tough.

Awww! I have it too :0(, it is a right beastie to get rid of, I water the area first before trying to pull it out and I get rid of the flower heads as soon as I see em or dig um out is the best way best when soil is wet:o) Good Luck :0)
