Delphiniums.This year my delphiniums have grown like crazy but the flower spikes are really poor.About a quarter of the usual size and really pathetic small flowers.Igave the whole garden a light sprinkling of general fertilizer in late february and everything else is doing well.Could it be weather related.Am in East Yorkshire. Thanks.

Is your soil, acid, or alkaline? That makes a difference with Delphs. Check it out. Yours may need lime. My soil is acid, and I give mine lime. I had the most fantastic bunch of larkspur this year. That is the much smaller, wilder, same blue flower. Check with a nursery person...
