Roundup applied by a spray will dry in 5-10 minutes and is then safe for animals.

I donĀ“t use chemicals at all in the garden.....the weeds on the patio between the flag stones I use the wire brush on a long handle....and the rest of the weeds I just pull out.

I use Bayer Path Weed Control or Pathclear - applied with a fine rose on the watering can to the cracks. Once its dry, its harmless to any visiting animals. It will kill off what's there, and will have a residual effect in the gaps between the stones, preventing regrowth for up to 3 months, so do it in May or June, and you don't need to do it again till the following year. Intended for paths and paved areas, not for planted borders or open soil.

I would not use weedkiller on the patio as it could run off and kill plants etc. I use Armillatox Moss & Outdoor Cleaner to treat the moss and algae. It is soap based and does no harm. It smell strong so I do it on a dry evening when there is no traffic to tread it indoors. For the weeds in the cracks I have a wire brush for this with a blade on one side (sold in garden centres) and I use this, once cleared it only needs doing once a year.
