For me Spring is the start of the year not January. Like so many of us you've got that Spring feeling and what a nice village you live in.

I love the weeping willow over the water. They're just beginning to shoot now, and that's a real sign of spring, isn't it.

Thank you R. I love the Weeping Willow, and of course the daffs. To me daffodils are Spring. I never buy the early forced ones because they seem to me like cheating.

A great walk around your village, Richard! I love to see the Daffs flowering - even if they are rather late this year.

I took some photos today of some mini-daffs that have become naturalized on Castle Hill. They grow in big clumps & look so much nicer that way than spread out in lines. There were other, more traditional, Daffs growing close by & they look fabulous as well.

Just this afternoon I noticed a traditional Daff had opened on my balcony! I didn't realize I had any! I have a few Tete-a-Tete mini Daffs that are flowering their heads off at the moment. I have a potful underplanted in a pot with a standard Fuchsia. They came up faithfully every year before the Fuchsia wakes up. I've also underplanted an Azalea with these mini Daffs & they are flowering well, too!

Your daffodils sound great Balcony. I had a small 1/4 standard fuchsia that I was growing on but lost it now in the frost I had forgotten about it in the greenhouse...Duh! I have been busy growing pansies and marigolds I also have some Rudbeckia that I am waiting for rto germinate but they seem to be a bit slow at the moment. Thanks for your visit. :-)

Looks like a lovely place Richard. Just right for walking and snapping pics!

Very nice indeed:0))

On the subject of redbeckia, do they grow back each year?

29 Mar, 2010

Thanks Dan it is great to walk around and take pics. I am not sure about the Rudbeckia whether they will come up again or not as I only grew them for the first time last year. I bought some more seeds this year to start some more off :-)

Hope so coz I loved em....spider plants ALi called em.!

We have 2 names for every plant. I learn the normal and she has to think of something each one looks like in order to remember them...........it's an age thing I guess!!

Might look out for some more then as well:0)) Thanks San

I was surprised how tall they were Dan I thought they would be the same size as marigolds but they were roughly three or four times as tall. Try Wilkinsons that's where I go usually - they are quite good for seeds!-there are many other places also where you can find them :-)

I had a cracking show of them in one of my half barrels last summer. I've got pics further back on my photo's page of them. Very nice indeed. Will look out next time I'm in Wilkies, thanks for that.

I tried to save some seeds of the Rudbeckia but they are like little splinters and I have had no luck with them yet Dan. :-)

I cut my plant right back to the ball so don't know if it will reappear but we live in hope! Might plant a few random seeds in the tub around the edge anyway for now.

Here's to summer. Got a day off today and it's gale force winds out there! Might nip down to the GH toplant up some Dwarf Sunflower seeds that I've been sent :0))

Received yesterday, PM sent to you thanks.
