Further Update on ball planter

I put a tube in a square plant pot then filled the pot up with cement. This was so that I would get a heavy base to hold the planter up. The next day when the cement had set I cleaned it all up and stuck some ceramic tiles I had spare around each edge of the pot and also on the shed window boxes.
I have put the planter pole in the base and it seems secure although I may have to screw it down to the decking when I eventually decide where to put it.
I have started to plant up the ball with some pansies that I have been growing on but need more plants to finish it off.
Ah well ….. it is getting there lol :-)

I had some stainless steel tubes spare from some solar lights which stopped working so I threaded them over the wooden broom stick to improve the look of it…lol
Here is the planter planted up and flowering.

A ball of Pansies should look very good, Richard. Will all the Pansies be of the same colour?

Impatients as well would look good, I have noticed every man choses this plant lol.

I have different coloured pansies and some purple ones also Balcony. I will put some trailing lobelia, allysum and whatever I have growing in the greenhouse (apart from the tomatoes...lol).
I have one impatiens plant that I overwintered Sixpence I may put that in there too....lol :-)

Lol it is true, over the years each time I have watched men chose plants Impatiens has been the one they have chosen, at every garden centre B&Q, nurseries etc they all chose Impatiens.

I had a large basket of red impatiens last year Sixpence and just managed to save one after we had an early frost. So I have kept it indoors :-)

No surprise really, 6d, as Busy Lizzies make really excellent plants for something like a ball of flowers. I have two wall pouches that I fill up every year with them & they give a magnificent display from June to December! See my pictures for photos of my wall pouches full of Busy Lizzies!

I've grown them in my hanging baskets & in my planters where they flower from very small till the frosts kill them in December.

Richard, I have two Impatiens that have overwintered indoors from the plugs I bought last year. I find they seed all over the place & come up like weeds in the most unexpected places! But I transplant some & others I leave to get on with it wherever they grow. :-)

I didn't know that the impatiens seeded themselves as well as that Balcony. I know that many 'bits' fall off them and usually make a mess. I will take a look at your pics now :-)

They can be very prolific seeders - a very pretty "weed"! I find them springing up in pots all the time. I rarely get rid of them & more often than not I transplant them else where.

4 May, 2010

I hope I find some more springing up Balcony I had a load of them last year. :-)

4 May, 2010

Grow them from cutting then - as easy as falling over!

4 May, 2010

OK I will do Balcony :-)
