Lovely photo`s Sharn, we took the train up Snowden a few years ago, fabulous until we arrived at the summit, boy that scared me, you couldn`t see more than a couple of feet and I got separated from hubby, was relieved to get back on the train.
Have to say its beautiful around there....

I've visited many of the villages and countryside around Snowdon but we've not taken the train up the mountain... mainly due to the expense.

You took some lovely photos....I wonder if it was Llanberis you visited? I think the train goes from there.

It's very nice, but next time you come to Wales you should come here to the south west :)

I don't think Wales has any bad parts, Hywel....it's a beautiful country. Had I the choice I would have chosen Wales to live when we emigrated from Canada. We didn't speak Welsh though and that would be a handicap for employment/running a business.

You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful place, Hywel :)

Stunning scenery ... thanks for sharing these pics. : o )

lol :) Please don't take what I said too seriously. There's always some 'rivalry' between north and south Wales. They are like two different countries :) I don't suppose you'd realise that though in England.

I have an inkling about the friendly rivalry between the north and the south of Wales....and I know there are some parts that are very insular and it's difficult to "belong" if you are an outsider who cannot converse in the Welsh language. My hubby worked in a few places in North Wales in his younger days (hotels/pubs) and that is what he found.

I also have friends who relocated to Aberystwyth from Merseyside and although her husband was well qualified, ex-policeman etc. all the jobs (of which there were many) he went after were unsuccessful applications because he didn't speak Welsh.

I won't take you too seriously, Hywel...lol You are a good sport :)

Beautiful country! Partner is Welsh and, if we'd not decided to live here, we would have lived in South Wales, somewhere between Cardiff and Ogmore. Like Hywel stated above - next time visit the south west - the beauty will bring tears to your eyes! :o)

But I do speak welsh Whistonlass. I think it's important in wales to be able to at least try and understand some of it. You don't understand the hisrory and backround behind this ... It's something that makes me feel very angry

Anyway I'm not going to go into this now. It isn't the time and place to do so

........ Blodyn only understands welsh ;o))

29 May, 2011

I agree, Hywel....I reckon if anyone chooses to live in an area with another language it is imperative (and polite) to be conversant in that language. I love the sounds of the Welsh language and I think it's cute that Blodyn only understands Welsh :)

And I can understand how passionate you feel regarding the history and background of your Welsh heritage. x

it isn't a debate :) I was only saying something :o)
Sometimes people do get a bit off the subject. It's finished now .
Sorry if it's upset you ....

Sharnford....no worries. Your blog about your travels in Wales was great (friendly banter between Hywel and I has muscled in on it so I do apologize).

Your brother's dog looked great posed on the rock there. He would definitely keep you on the go as you trecked along the paths and viewed that beautiful landscape.
