It is 80/26 in the swimming pool – so I am wondering what it is elsewhere in the garden. I have been away a few weeks and on returning everything looks in need of TLC. I do have a guy, when I am away, to look after the garden but somehow he doesn’t notice plants in distress. So I am talking to them and telling them life is worth living. Up here – in the hills of Andalucia – rain is non existent now – just the bleaching sun. But this year, unlike last, we are allowed to use irrigation systems. So we are given water with one hand – but on the other hand the pressure is so low that only one lucky plant gets drowned while the others reach out hopeful tendrils …But the colours are so vivid! Which I am enjoying, having been, in England, one who only went for tiny insignificant brown flowers. The flowers here strut their stuff, pull on their mini skirts and dare you to do what you may. Ignore them you can’t.

Hi Spritzhenry - only plant I can think of is the Erythrina crista-galli. Is a shrub, South American originally. The Erythrinas as a whole are known (I think) as the Coral trees. But this one is known as Cockscomb which seems to link up with your name. It's flowers are red and grow in profusion but I should think it's on the tender size. If it is, it sounds like a really nice plant. Lucky you!

Thanks - I was told it was tender and for a greenhouse or Conservatory! I'll check it out. :-)

That's HOT!!! We have a rather miserable set of weather here.
Can you answer me a question, please? I've been given a plant grown from Spanish seed. Its name translates as 'Cockerel's Crest' or something similar. When it flowers...sometime in the future...the flowers are red. Do you know of it, and what its latin name might be??
