The Smelly One!!!!

Been here only a few days and everyone is so helpful and friendly!!! Think it is only fueling the gardening bug i think i may have caught!!!

Was so inspired i found myself dragging my 5 year old niece who i was baby sitting around a garden centre this afternoon! Lots of lovely things to tempt me! So i made a short list and let her choose!

I am now the proud owner of a lavender, otherwise known as “the smelly one” if your 5 lol!!! Think that’s why she picked it! Still it won’t go wrong in the garden lots of spaces to fill!!!

After insisting i bought her a pair of her own flowery gardening gloves she helped me weed part of the border under my bedroom window! Looking much better now! But still got a bit to do! Spent so long in the GC we were loosing light so couldn’t get it finished!

A job for tomorrow morning! Hopefully it will be nice!
Spent some of the night looking at all the gorgeous pics and collecting ideas! Think i’ve got some now!!!!

Thanks guys!!!! :-)

I open my garden for charity once a year and if I see small children looking bored, I ask them if they'd like to see my smelly plants - lavender, rosemary, etc. Works every time :-)

Welcome to GoY Sparkly. Once you have the "bug" there's no going back. You are now doomed to digging in the dirt for the rest of your life!! LOL
Glad you got a 'smelly' plant. I love lavender.

She certainly looked surprised when i got her to rub the leaves and smell it in the GC! Don't think she knew plants smelled! LOL! What has my sister being doing with her she is 5! Oh well at least she learned something in amongst all the fun!!!

What a fantastic day for you and your niece. Yep...there's lots of excitement and planning and digging ahead for you. Lavender is a great choice...just wait til you can dry the lavender and you can make little sachets of scent with her for pressies....I see lots of fun ahead :)

Glad you're enjoying the site, Sparkly....I like your enthusiasm!

Oh she is going to get such an education, bless, I love how kids react to gardening, it is only when they become teenagers they hate it and always tell you they cannot see what you find so interesting and it is not for them. Think then you have to wait until they get their own place and have to have a go themselves, then they get the bug, well hopefully they will.

I think you and your neice are going to have loads of fun together out there, and you are giving her something really valuable in connecting her with the soil and nature. Good for you Sparkly...keep sparkling!
