An English Country Garden

We visited ‘Hidcote Manor’ in the vale of Evesham, Worcestershire on Sunday, it was a warm sunny day and the colours shone like jewels; here is a little taster:
starting out with the sheep in the meadow viewed from the car park:
walk through the honey coloured cotswold stone walls and into the first area of the garden:
i did stay here a while and took more than a few photos:
under the shade of a magnificent old cedar tree were multitudes of tulips:
it seemed every where you looked was another view of jewelled colour:
so many colours!
but these were possibly my favourite; hidcote had successfully propagated these for the first time last year [i bought one as a real treat]
i love the detail and contrast within a magnolia:
there are many areas to this garden including a rock area, kitchen garden, glasshouse, stream and more besides; i have been here several times [usually during june or july] but never have i seen such colours:
another border of tulips but with the robin on the grass; hidcote is out in the country and the air is filled with birdsong.
the red border is striking; once the tulips are out it will be replaced by other red plants.
i dont think i have shown you even half of the garden but i hope you enjoyed its most colourful borders; its definitely worth a visit if you can make it. im not sure how long the tulips will be in flower ~ may be worth ringing first to check?

Just found this lovely blog after browsing through your writings and pics, the red border was my favourite when we went, though it was much later in the year. Looked amazing.
Did you see any rose bushes? We were puzzled by the complete lack of them on our visit.
23 Apr, 2011
there were some rose bushes but too early for them so i didnt really notice
we had only been later in the year before and altho i liked it i wondered why people thought it was so wonderful ~ this time however i could see why ~ must be a spring garden?
have you been to david austin roses? its a lovely trip and not too far.
