From Christmas to Spring in 24 Hours

So, on Boxing Day I decorated a Fairy Planter I received on Christmas Day – beautiful.
Today December 27th – the supermarket had a plant sale – spent a very fun hour removing Christmas and turning the same planter into a Spring one!
So, question is, are there any seeds which would go in the very narrow bottom part, preferably small but quick growers? Any ideas?

It depends how big the planter is. Alyssum is short and bushy and can trail over the side. Virginia Stock only grows a few inches high (... well it has every time I've planted it) and it has starry flowers.
Maybe they would be even smaller in a confined place like your planter.
They both grow very easily :)

How about cress and then you can eat it and grow some more!

Ooh I like the cress idea - I love the summer taste of cress in a sandwich! I have never grown Alyssum or Virginia Stock so those will go on my list too. Thank you!
