The Garden over the last fortnight

Hi Folks

The weather last week was very mixed , it rained in the night on monday and tuesday but during the day the sun was out in its glory so, but wednesday thursday and friday were a lot milder, so it allowed me to plant out all the remaining flowers in the garden, the standard nicotiana were very slow coming up this year especially the variety called sylvetris which came free with my garden magazine, they took almost three weeks to germinate, and they are still in the seedling stage three weeks later, I have tried to give them some extra feed to push them on but to no avail, guess nature has its own way of doing things, the veg garden is really pushing along, I wonder do you remember me saying that the potatoes of the Pink Fir Apple had no tubers on well I had a dig down a little further and they are there but the size of peas, so we will have some potatoes this year after all, we have a good crop peas, and the runner and french beans are growing well, so looking for a good crop there, but we haven’t done so well with the broad beans, I don’t think all the bees have not found their way through the plastic mesh, even though the mesh is about 2" wide, well we will have to see how things develop with the runner beans and see if they can find them, the courgettes are really coming on and if we don’t start using some they will be the size of marrows, not that it matters as marrows are very nice baked in the oven with some nice spicey mince insde,

What a fabulous week it has been, after the two very heavy rainfalls last week but this week has certainly made up for it, I was able to cut my first cauliflower and it was the best I have ever grown, so maybe it says something for the new veg garden, guess the weather has something to say for it as well, as all the veg is of top quality,

I took the boss out last Friday for a meal as it was her birthday, we went to our favourite Chinese Restaurant, it does do a set meal but we opt for the menu where you can help yourself and what a selection you can have we had quite a mixed meal and sweet plus a nice bottle of ros’e wine, which we throughly enjoyed and being as it was her birthday they brought her a plate of fruit and a small cake with a lite candle on, and played happy birthday on the intercom system.

You will be pleased to know that The Boss has approved the painting of the dustbin cupboard, and to make it easier to acess the dustbin I have bought a pot roller and placed the dustbin on the top so that it can easily be rolled in and out of the cupboard with ease.
