Venus fly trap is flowering. Dionaea muscipula

Well it seems to have been a long time coming but it is now flowering. I have never seen a Fly trap in flower so I was quite excited.

A few months ago it looked like this.

This was back in Dec 08.

Then in Feb 09 it had grown a nice long flower shoot.

Today it looks like this. This is the second flower, there are more to come as well as another flower shoot.
It lives on the window of my utility room and thrives on water from the water butt.

I never even knew they flowered! Pretty little flower.

The flowers are usually cut off to conserve the plant's energy, unless seed is desired. Still, they're nice to see every now and again and it's a nice healthy looking plant you've got.

Donnah, they constantly sit in a saucer of rain water, tap water kills them.
Hope that helps if you decide to try again.

Hi mine are flowering for the first time, but as Rydeboyz says they can sap the plants energy, so I am limiting mine to one flower, just in case.
