Wren activity

Sat here in my dinning room looking out over the garden whilst it is raining, I am amazed at all the activity going on outside. Blackbirds are busy getting worms, the Robin is on the feeder, when the squirel isn’t there and then out the corner of my eye I noticed a little wren darting back and forth with bits of nesting material in it’s beak.

She/he is busy building a nest in some overgrown ivy on my wall that leads down to the garden. The wall is by some steps which is the only access to the garden and right out in front of my patio doors.

The nest is just to the right of the pillar in the picture and about a third of the way up. Just where it starts to get rather bushy.

I was planning on pulling some of the ivy down as I need to replace the brick copping on the left hand side that has been knocked off by next doors buddleia. This job will now have to wait until spring has well and truly gone and if the nest is successful it will give me good reason not to do this job.

The sun is coming out so I shall try and capture our little feathered friend as he/she darts to and from with yet more large leaves etc.

Also a favourite of mine, every year we have one flitting around our top pond and think she builds in Ceonothus or Conifers, its a very good reason to delay your job and know she will provide you hours of entertainment if the nesting is successful........
