oh that is a pretty one! but they are so early!!
i have a couple but only in tight buds still
majeekahead ~ my camellias are in quite a lot of shade but it does stop the sun getting to them and burning them when the frost is still on ~ i think someone said put them where the early morning sun cant reach them???
28 Feb, 2013
yes Sticki - they dislike morning sun with frosts - Monty on GW said that :))

It's beautiful Angela ,isn't it lovely to see flowers arriving at long last :o)

It´s really beautiful. Do you grow it outside or in the winter garden?

Beautiful! My Camellias are not good this year....very few buds on any of them....weird as it was so wet last summer, and it's usually lack of water in summer that prevents them flowering. On this occasion I fear it is lack of light in the summer!

Beautiful, Dotty. Do you know the name of it?
28 Feb, 2013
I was wondering about the name of it too, beautiful flower. I've got three Camellias, all full of buds, but I think it will be another week before I get any flowers.

Lovely Camellia Angela, mine's quite full of buds, wish the flowers would last a bit longer tho, when they open, usually go brown round the edges and then drop off. It doesn't get the first morning sun.
Yes Karen, mine was much better last year, with all the rain we had, so if we have a dryer summer(hopefully) will make sure it gets watered well!

Janey these are very well established plants now, some well over 7 ft tall, when they were small in the summer especially when we had hot summers.....remember those? I used to por tea under their foliage, cold obviously lol and no milk or sugar....I am sure it helped.
San, PTG and Scottish thanks, Cinders they are very early flowerers.
Holly, Wild and Lindak thank you also...
Gralew many thanks, I do love them especially as we have not got a great deal of colour at the moment,
Klahanie and Louisa, I am sorry but I have no idea what it is called, had it long time now...
Majeek it does get some shelter from our neighbours tree...which helps.
Sticki that info is correct, Thanks Amy and Paul, and yes it is lovely to see some colour in the garden....
Katarina this is in our very small woodland area, mostly Pieris Ferns, Camellias, Hellebores etc...
Karen we have not got the amount of buds that we had last year, but we did prune it back, and we will have to do so again this year....

Wow this is lovely - it is funny because I never seem to have much luck with these, and I do have an acidic soil the buds always seem to get frosted and turn brown, I have tried them in many different locations in the garden without much joy.....
