The Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro was originally intended for the acclimatisation of spices like nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon imported from the West Indies, the Garden was opened to the public in 1822, and is now open during daylight hours every day except December 25th and the 1st of January.
There are many orchid species. I’ve tried to take pictures of the flourish ones. The pictures talk for themselves. I hope you enjoy it.

What wonderful flowers! I think the Orchid family must be the pinnacle of the plant realm, the flowers are so diverse & very often so specialized!
I liked your favourite one as well!

You made my day! i loved the photos, so exquisite. In my next life, I am having a small greenhouse and some orchids. The smaller ones are my favorites, although I do like very much the white, frilly one. Hard to pick one out, they are all so delicate. Thanks for posting. Never mind about your English, it's fine.

Aleyna:
Not sure why I missed this blog more than a year ago.
I love all the orchids. It reminds me of the Botanical Building (which is a large lath-house) in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. I just posted several pics of all the orchids blooming now. This is the time of the year when many orchids bloom in San Diego. My neighbor has a huge orchid collection in their front and back yards.

Scotkat im really glad you liked... it was my goal when I took the pictures, "to please my Goy friends ", feel honored to have my humble blog on your favourites. thank you!
Wells my dear GOY friend, don't wait for the next life...just do it! :) I bet you will find a spot in your house to raise these beautys. I'll look for white tiny orchids for you :)
However I know your feeling though ... in my next life I'll be born and raise in a country where you can have a house with no fear of thieves and murders..
Delonix, I'm going up to the hills now to photograph the hydrangeas, will take a look on your orchid pictures when I come back... thanks for your comment.
