"JardinAção" - GardenAction

GardenAction – straight translation of the word JardinAção- is an event occuring twice a year in the Botany Garden, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. The main goal of these events is teach the regular people about the importance of nature caring, through recycling.
There are three main groups involved in these events: the Botany Garden staff, my friend Fernando is the first responsible for their support, the “reciclar” staff from Banrisul – Bank from Rio Grande do Sul – , and the Cataventus staff, an ONG dedicated to teach the importance of recycling material to maintain the health of our planet, and they do this, telling tales, using characteres of our literature and others.
A lot of different workshops: recycling, medicinal plants use, natural food, and health care are provided during the day to those visitants who come to the Botany Garden.
The Natural Sciences museum is open with special expositions – examples of cigar tips, plastic bottles, plastic bags and other objects collected from the parks, beaches, lakes, the reservoir and other places… also they teach how this affect the animals.
A few other activities take place, like circle dance, orchestra presentations and the indians sings and dances.
My apologies for my “clumsy” English

Nice blog, Alenya! :-) I like to see how people are learning to recycle more & more things. We live in such a throw away society that many people have no idea what to do with their "junk". So it's good to see that in many different parts of the world people are doing their "bit" to help preserve our planet.
