Keeping the kids occupied in the garden

I did write a blog yesterday about the work we are doing in the back garden and I skimmed over the shed we had put up, painted and fitted out for our daughter Jenny.
It is a normal 6′ × 8′ shed, we painted it in Cuprinol Country Cream and Jed insulated it with polystyrene and covered that in plywood, then we painted it.

We got a piece of work-top from B&Q and we had 2 stools that we weren’t using, plus there was other furniture that Jenny had which doesn’t go in her room now. All pretty cheap stuff from IKEA.

I spent hours online and in Woolworths(before it closed) getting a whole collection of art and craft items together to fill up the little unit which fits nicely under the work-top. Jenny is 4 and loves the CBEEBIES Program ‘Mr Maker’ and this was as close as I could get to it!.

The only thing left to do is get electricity and a plug into the shed.
It snowed on the Isle of Wight and it is pretty heavy for here, so without light or heat, Jenny can’t enjoy it at the moment
I have some lovely stone pots which will look really nice in front of the shed under the window, I bought Jenny a few pots of bulbs to put in them over the weekend, I also have a rambling rose which I am planning on training over the roof of the shed.

When the snow melts and the weather warms up I’ll be out in the garden making new beds and planting trees, ferns and woodland perennials in this bit

If you have the space in your garden and have children I would highly recommend it.

I suppose if you were an artist you could use it as a studio. When she gets tired of it I am going to reclaim it as a tool shed!

And when will that be, Andrea - it's such a perfect child-friendly place - and when she gets into her teens - a private place away from adults! You'll have a long, long wait, I guess!

What a fantastic project, Andrea. Many Thanks for showing this, and how it has been done. Jenny must be thrilled with it!
