The local wood used to be nothing but bluebells when we moved here 35 years ago but over the years the bluebells are being pushed out by a nasty newcomer~
I appreciate it looks good but it is a complete thug!

Not a patch on Bluebells.

~ the plan is to thin out the trees to decrease the amount of canopy shade where the garlic thrives,~apparently increasing the amount of daylight helps the bluebells,it's a bit of a shame because most of the trees are sound just quite close together! that's the theory anyway.!......

This is happening where i live between Bristol and Bath not as bad as what you show,Have also heard people saying to avoid introducing them in the garden as they spread faster than the Spanish Bluebell.Never thought anything could spread faster.
I have the square stemmed Garlic in the garden (which is not what i see in the woods),that has not caused a problem as yet but will keep an eye on it.

i didnt realise this happened....we have a lovely wood full of bluebells edged by garlic.....it would be terrible if we lost the bluebells...

quite frankly Sandra I would start digging it up now and increase the light if that is going to help~ my hubby was in the garden yesterday taking out some strays and you have to be really careful as there are clusters of little bulbs on the main one and you need to get them all out~ every tiny one!it also seeds like mad so go cut the flowers off~ if this was my wood I would be using everything I could think off to get rid of it! not quite as bad as knotwood but getting there...

Never seen this garlic before! The Bluebells around here seem to be doing very well. There are clumps of pink & white ones as well as the normal blue. I hope we never see the garlic anywhere near here!

~ Hi Balcony~ probably you are a lot drier than us~I hope you don't get it either.
My warning to anyone would be to take swift action to get rid of it as soon as you see it before it spreads and gets out of control~

We were doing the same thing this week taking out spanish bluebells and wild garlic before it takes over, although we do eat it, I dont like it in the garden, have seen what it can do to a small garden once you let it get away.....

Pitty it's taking over. I didn't realise it would do that. I preffer the bluebells.
