HELLO SISTERS HELLO G O Y ER,
ISN’T THIS WEATHER SIMPLY DIRE

LEE IN HAMPSHIRE, THE WEATHER’S DRAINING
ALL WILL BE FINE IF IT STOPS RAINING

ROSES WILTING BY THE HOUR,
SWEET PEAS WAITING FOR A FLOWER.

STRAWBERRIES, NOT A TRACE OF RED,
I THINK I SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED!!

YOU REMEMBER MINT CRISP LONICERA,
WELL IT’S ENOUGH TO REALLY SCARE YOU,

NOT A FLOWER TO BE SEEN,
ONLY LOTS AND LOTS OF GREEN

WAIT A MINUTE IT’S STOPPED SHOWERING,
SKIES ARE BLUE, MY HOSTAS FLOWERING.

I’LL GO, TURN OFF THE HEATING,
AND ARRANGE A GARDEN MEETING.

GLASSES ON THE TABLE,
WILL DO SOME GARDENING IF I’M ABLE !!

ISN’T THIS WEATHER KINDA CRAZY?
ENJOY YOUR DAY LOVE DOTTYDAISY….XXX

This has to be sung to the tune of Hello Mother Hello Father, for all those who remember Tom Lehrer (now 84 !!) sorry but the tune will get on your brain all day lol

Fabulous, both the rhyme and the pics - the sunny one looks stunning, rain or no rain, plenty of colour there DD2.

Totally agree with Bamboo!

Just had torrential rain here, it has stopped now, so I am going out to plant me new plants. Thank you DD2, have a great day! Oh!! And Bamboo too! :)))

15 Jun, 2012

Thanks Michaela. Sun's out suddenly, not sure how long for, looks like a bit of repotting might be possible. Really windy though...

15 Jun, 2012

Good luck with your repotting and planting Michaella and Bamboo, no chance for gardening here..
Love your blog DD Last 2pics are what gardening is all about, Sigh :) Its my Birthday tomorrow and i saw a van pull up this morning from Azure, some lucky so* is gonna get plants today i thought, then a knock on MY door! and a man standing with a beautifull 8 to 10 foot or it could be taller Acer tree, its a beauty, bright yellow, i dont know if there's a label in it as its torrential here and i forgot to look, ive been out 4 times as its blowing over and managed to jam it into a corner!!! i know where its going but ill have to wait for better weather, Hub bought it for me, we were at azure a couple of weeks ago and i admired the acer trees, i was drooling really, he went back up and bought one, what a diamond he is :))
I hope your weather is better than ours DD, happy gardening x

15 Jun, 2012

Brilliant DD, I dont think I remember the tune well enough. I keep trying to sing it and end up with too many uhhhhhh. uh, uhs in it!! if you know what I mean. Your garden looks great btw. The lonicera mint crisp has gone like a rocket!

15 Jun, 2012

Poppy you have to google the song and you can listen to it, but unless you want to get it on you brain....I would not lol
YDD how kind and thoughtful of your OH to go to so much trouble, he obviously loves you gal!! looking forward to seeing your picture of your new Acer.
Bamboo pleased you enjoyed my little ditty, nothing to do, so passed the time between showers!!
Michaella hope you got those plants in......just like April here, just put out the washing, and well you can guess the rest, going to make some biscuits now, anything rather than housework lol

15 Jun, 2012

Dotty thats brilliant and now I`m singing along happily, I can remember Terry Scott making a version of that song, used to hear it a lot on Sat Mornings, the Uncle Max radio show..
Gave me a right laugh and I`ve entertained the family, lol.
Its very windy here and cold but lots of sunshine....

15 Jun, 2012

Gorgeous garden !!! lovely pics - a bit of a restbite midweek weather wise - then back to square one by end of!

15 Jun, 2012

Loads of lightening and thunder here Dd, it's as black as night! Love the song, ha ha, remember it well, as long as we stay on the sunny pics all will be well....on no, more thunder!
Happy birthday YDD for tomorrow, sounds like a fantastic pres!....:))

15 Jun, 2012

Great blog Dd. and yes I did sing along too! Lol. Your garden is looking lovely, despite the weather.

15 Jun, 2012

lol that's gone straight into faves! love especially how you rhyme your name. Think the original tune is "Dance of the Hours", not sure who wrote it, it featured in the Hippo-Ostrich-Crocodile Ballet sequence in Fantasia. lol but I think I like your version better.

15 Jun, 2012

Brilliant blog DD. Your garden is fab. YDD, what a lovely present from your OH. Lucky you.

15 Jun, 2012

Camp Granada.......brilliant but stuck in my head now.......

I was out all day at an art festival loaded with waterproofs etc but didn't get wet (tea tent was handy at one point)all the way back on M1 it was torrential, stopped a bit after I got in but now its torrential again....we were so lucky!

15 Jun, 2012

Brill blog you may not have too many flowers but all this rain your grass is lovely and green.

15 Jun, 2012

Fran you could be right about the original tune, I was a big fan of Tom Lehrer in the 50s/60s glad you liked my version though.....
Cinders thanks, despite the awful weather it is coping well.
GM you remembered it then lol.......
Janey well done, brings back old memories does it not?
Lincs I can just about remember Terry Scott doing a version......pleased it amused the family lol
Paul thanks, always room for improvements though!!
OH has been watching the footie Ukraine vs France and they had to come off after 5 minutes the biggest storm ever seen......we are not alone folks!!

15 Jun, 2012

Thundering here now.......

15 Jun, 2012

fab blog Dd2...your garden is sooo full of flowers..x

15 Jun, 2012

lol very good ...
I remember that song. It used to get on my nerves lol

15 Jun, 2012

That is so clever! Loved your photos to go with it! Your garden looks a picture and doesn't look as if it is suffering at all!

Here we have a gale blowing yet again and heavy grey skies.

In the south west yesterday the temp was one degree lower than on Christmas Day!!!!

15 Jun, 2012

According to Google, the tune was written by Ponchielli from his opera La Gioconda, first performed in 1876. Nuffink like a bit of kul-cha for ya

15 Jun, 2012

Hub tied the acer to the drainpipe with those black plastic zippy things and its still there :) its in a really small pot for the size of it, ill get some compost tomorrow and plant it into a bigger pot, its going down beside the pergola, soo excited :)))
Bamboo, i hope your clematis is ok..

15 Jun, 2012

Well done Hubby, it must be windy, just like here how are your nanas doing ours ripped to shreds?
Andrew thanks for that cannot say I have heard of Ponchielli, but not a great opera fan, but you live and learn on this site..... might see if Spotify has it........
Wildrose you only saw the best part of the garden......I am not surprised re the temperature in the south west, I do hope it picks up soon....
Hywel it does, your going to love me.......dont see why I should suffer alone lol
Sandra what are you doing on here, you have so much work to do......lol
Pam sunshine here now, in two hours time? goodness knows!!

15 Jun, 2012

I dont use nanas any more DD they are to expensive to use as annuals, my trex and ricinus are still indoors (from seed yoohoo) Oleander, canna's, in the greenhouse along with begonia's, colius and annuals, my grapevines are planted out, one with small bunches of grapes but im worried they will be set back with the cold weather :(
I bought an angelica gigus last week, i love the leave's, do you have any? My TFs are out and looking gorgeous, they will be loving this rain. still loads to do tho, my heads in a spin lol... And there's the front garden to sort out yet hahaha..

15 Jun, 2012

Now YDD many, many HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY FOR TOMORROW cus I could forget when tomorrow comes lol....Right Ricinus out and flowering, amazing in this weather!! canna's out but so slow........Coleus and Begonias out, again very slow, in fact, not moving are they dead I ask myself? lots of growth on the grapes (but it is an established vine, well vines) no Oleander shame.... I bought an Angelica Gigas love the colour, but it never came back, unlike the flipping green one, have to keep cutting the leaves off, it is like the beanstalk!! my tree ferns all 4ins of them are looking well though.....Dawn why do you want good weather for the 1st July? special day perhaps?

What a lovely blog! Thank you for the lovely pictures; makes the rain bearable! Having said that it's been dry today so manged to mow the lawn. I had put down some grass seed in the autumn. Guess which Tom Lehrer song I sang constantly? Poisoning pigeons in the park!!

18 Jun, 2012

lol that's one of my faves too: mind you, most of his are on that list, too.

18 Jun, 2012

18 Jun, 2012

Love your blog Dd and you have a lovely voice (I could hear it in my head lol) Your garden looks fabulous as always. I hope you had sun today? My garden is not looking too good after all the battering it's had, but I managed over 4 hours working in the garden today and we are going to have two more dry days hurrah!:-)

18 Jun, 2012

Thanks BA it is a good job you cannot hear me singing, lovely voice I have not lol...a beautiful day today, thanks for your very kind comments enjoy the sunshine....

19 Jun, 2012

Enjoyed the blog and as you say the song now keeps going round and round in my head.lol.
What do you feed your mint crisp on, bought this last year and its still only a tichy thing.

21 Jun, 2012

Stroller we do not feed it, but it needs plenty of water, once it takes off you will have to keep your eye on it, at long last ours is in flower, and being beaten to death rain and wind.....flipping weather.

21 Jun, 2012

Many thanks HB......
