🌱🌹 Our Lockdown Border🌱🌹

This is a small area outside our back door ..and overlooked from our conservatory….it has been many things over the last 20 years… a paved area holding our many containers especially succulents…a pond area ( small oak barrel) with suitable planting…..then two years ago it became a David Austin rose bed….
We decided the D A roses were far too large for such a small area, so they were all moved elsewhere! that was the end of last year!
We then moved all our Nerines from the front garden and placed them at the back of the border in a line….it’s a very hot border…where they will be baked….
We then put in our low growing flower carpet roses…some very special Lavenders….Liatris….a couple of HGs and some Daylilies…..and a small rose Gertrude Jekyll!!! more about that in a minute
We needed to edge the border with some fancy edging…..in the meantime COVID-19 happened so we were unable to leave the house….
My OH decided to go around the garden and collect as many stones as he could find and set them round the edge of the border ( are you still with me.?) then we sent for some thyme to set among the stones…..we had set in tiles ( bought last year) on which we placed pots of herbs and roses..
We put in some gladiolus ( in a pot) which doesn’t look right….they will be removed to one of the borders…
Overall it doesn’t look too bad….the pots of Argyranthemum and Lobelia are all from last year……because of the mild winter they survived….

please excuse the quality of the photos….have used my iPad ….a first for me as I no longer have a computer…but it doesn’t like my Google pics…taken on my Android 📱…which makes life a tad difficult, because the quality on my phone Pics are far superior to the iPad….but composing blogs with photos on a phone is very tedious when you have eye problems ……
You will see that Borage has seeded itself on the corner and evening primrose Sunset Boulevard has plonked herself right in the front…
Gertie will definitely have to come out….our one in the border is well over 5ft!
I am sure we will make more alterations as time goes by…..thanks so much for taking the time to wade through my blog……see you all soon…..stay cool
Angela…….

Goodness, what did you do in your spare time.....
its now a very interesting border with lots to see and lots of colour. I think the glad looks OK actually- its a gorgeous colour and it gives some variation in height. Also very impressed that you found all those large pebbles in the rest of the garden!

Lovely blog Dotty, and I’m not surprised you’re moving Gertie. A friend has it growing to 10ft and the perfume is gorgeous!

Thanks Karen....Feverfew..and Seaburn.....it kept us both busy....probably the stones will stay now, they will need tweaking and more thyme adding.....a good downpour would help the plants atm.....
