YELLOW IN THE GARDEN WITH A TOUCH OF LIME!! PART ONE....

After last nigh’t gales, I needed to inspect the garden for damage, luckily not too much, phew!!
Was surprised to notice just how much yellow we have in the garden, not a colour I use much in the house, so out with the camera, and after loading them on to the computer, I was amazed, so this blog had better be in two parts, dont want you falling asleep half way through!!

So here we go…….

From the top….
Caryopteris..
Erysimum Sunburst.
Santolina Lemon Fizz.

Euphorbia Effanta..
Euphorbia Ascot Rainbow.
Escallonia Gold Ellen, looking rather the worse for wear, she is not too keen on cold winds, she might just have to be replaced, but I do love her pink flowers, might find her a better place, there is a Gold Brian also!!

Fatshedera lizei Annemieke. with a yellow splashed Hedera.
Euonymus fortunei Emerald ‘n’ Gold.
Physocarpus Darts Gold.

Corokia virgata Sunsplash.
Lemon Balm All Gold, not sure what the other yellow one is on the right, this is the herb bed….
Lonicera Mint Crisp.

Euphorbia, not sure which one this is, as they do seed around…
Origanum Aureum Gold.
Golden Hop.
I think that is enough for tonight, yellow can be used in so many ways, it looks fantastic with blue, mauve, brown and for drama black, how have you used yellow in your garden, part two tomorrow………thanks for looking.

As you may recall A, my front garden is all yellows, and that erysimum is the colour of my new car...which I love! And I've been searching for something to match the yellow, so come on, hand it over!! i'll pin it to my bonnet and drive around looking glam! Lol! I love the geranium with the euphorbia, and let me say..that escallonia looks like a Chelsea specimen compared to mine! I might have to put up a pic to prove how good yours actually looks! I do love yellow in the spring! It's so cheering. P.s. have had a glass of wine this evening.....

Funny you should write this blog DD because i was thinking about all the yellow in my garden at the min, My gorgeous acer which is more like a tree is really bright acid yellow and a euphoria i bought a few weeks ago, some of my grasses and a phormium yellow wave all shining bright like little pockets of sunshine but, there are yellowing plants which are supposed to be green!! , i put one of my cycads back into the Ghouse this morning before the poor thing turns white with lack of sunshine... HELP :)))
Your yellow plants are looking healthy despite the weather and are brightening the garden up, you must have hundreds of varieties of plants, do you keep a record of how many species you do have? or is that too much hard work lol..

I like yellow in the spring Angela ,it compliment daffs crocus etc.it cheers us up mentally but then I let that fade into pinks and mauves in the summer months , and then back to autumn colours I like the different seasons and colours ...

Hi Dotty... lots of good colour ideas there :o)

You do have a good selection of yellow plants DD all contributing to making it seem as if you have sunshine which is what we need right now.
The yellow I have in the garden seems to be in the form of shrubs, Euonymus, L.Nitida `Beggesen`s gold` Fatshedera, L>Mint Crisp Escalonia `ellens gold` which I moved in march and put it under the Mahonia where its had more protection and its doing very well, and oreganum in the herb pots.

Lovely touches of yellow all around your garden Dotty - I pinched an idea from it by planting a Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace' next to a Lonicera 'Lemon & Lime' and am so pleased with the contrast. Also, with Michael being colour blind, yellow is one of the colours to really stand out for him so he loves the Spring flowers, Daffs, Primroses etc. I have very little red in my garden as he cannot see those tones at all ... :o(
