Scotkat the only one not scented is Pauls Scarlet, but it makes up for it because the blooms last for ages....
Olive thanks we both needed a break, we are getting on a bit now, spent 5 hours in the garden yesterday!!
MB thank you we both love roses and would have even more if the garden was larger that was just half of what we grow.......
Hello Amy thank you, we are just hoping for some good weather, it is so unpredictable, really cold and wet tonight, hope you enjoyed your break, I know we did....
Have roped as many of the children and grandchildren as we could, gets more difficult as they become older!!
Scottish roses are such hard work, but, we would not be without them, they do make a garden...
Thank you all for your kind comments, will keep you posted....

Beautiful roses. I like all of them, especially Angel Face. Love the peachy colour. Didn't see an Albertine :-) so perhaps that one is Compassion.

Wonderful DD. Your roses are much more forward than mine, which are only just starting to come out. You have some beautiful ones there. Wish I could get to your open day again, but have to be at our Country Market that day. Good luck with it.

Thank you Cinders, it has been a funny old year, some things really advanced and some plants not even bothering to turn up!!
Thanks Motty.....
Hywel they are both wonderful healthy roses with fantastic perfume....
Dawn I do hope for your sake and mine we get some decent weather, it is tipping it down at the moment, good job I took these photos when I did!!
Feverfew thank you..Angel face is a good one to have, all down to Spritz.!!

They are all gorgeous Dd, I sincerely hope the weather is good for your open day, its being a bit of a beggar isn't it? no wonder some of the plants don't know whether to bloom or not, its the same here in Lincs, so many opening up weeks early, mind you it means that this year I haven't had a gap between the spring showing and the summer flowers, makes for a more colourful garden....

5 Jun, 2014

Linc's thanks for your good wishes, as you say no gap this year between spring and summer.......just wish it would settle down.

My cousin and I spent ages trying to source Summer Wine after we saw it many years ago at Hyde Hall RHS garden. Never succeeded in finding it. Alas my cousin is no longer with us. I have a very tall Paul's Scarlet which blooms for a long time, as you say. I have county roses Essex and Cheshire, open single petal as with Summer Wine....very long blooming roses. Your roses are lovely Dotty.

6 Jun, 2014

Thanks Dorjac, Summer Wine is a beauty, a shame you could not find one in time, unfortunately it is at the back of the border and we cannot get to dead head lol
We grow country rose Worcestershire, a clear yellow, I rather like the single petal makes a change from the others, have put in a couple of standards this year Darcey Bussell and Lady of Shalott, making steady growth at the moment.

9 Jun, 2014

Thanks for sharing your lovely roses with us Dorjac. The colours are beautiful and the scent must be fantastic. I hope everything goes well for you with opening your garden on the 21st. Hope it's a lovely sunny day.
