What a spectacular sight the roses are right now….so many blooming later than usual with so many gorgeous flowers!
Here’s what’s in bloom in my garden right now.

Ingrid Bergman ~ huge blooms of velvety red, a Ruby Wedding gift from Katherine and granddaughters.

Graham Thomas ~ I love the gold colour and fruity scent.

Unknown beauty with a lovely scent of apricot.

Pink Perpetue ~ such an incredibly strong rose scent.

Paul’s Scarlet rambler, perfect for a shady north facing wall.

Bobbie James ~ a huge rambler, delicately scented, here with Clematis Etoile Violette.

Compassion ~ my favourite, gorgeous peach blooms with a delicate scent.

Gertrude Jekyll ~ Lovely shrub rose, highly perfumed, but very thorny!

New Dawn ~ Right over the rose arch now, shell pink perfection.

Thanks for looking….now whose going to do the dead-heading???…..:o))

Gorgeous roses, Graham Thomas is my fav, but I agree, the dead heading is a bit of a chore, but worth it!

Great selection.
This really is going to be the year of the Rose ,the damp start to the year and now the Sun seems to suit it to Perfection.

What beauties Janey! Monty Don said this is a very good year for the rose, think he is right. :)

Janey you have some beauties, we have the same choice in roses by the look of it, your picture of Graham Thomas is wonderful, do you find that Paul's Scarlet the blooms do not drop as quickly as the other roses, also it has no perfume?

I just love Graham Thomas so much! I had a huge one out front, in completely the wrong place, so I tried to move it on to my arches, but it died. So I bought a new baby one for the arches, and it sat there last year, but now it's flowering! I am so happy to see it again! My roses are really good as well. After being so pathetic and sick last year, it's wonderful to see them looking happy and strong again! I almost did a rose blog like this Janey...thanks, it's good to see someone else's!

very beautiful!
I think the apricot rose should be lady of shallot
I have one and it looks like that it smells like apricot

Certainly looks like an Austin rose:-)

I've not heard of that one Paul, I'll look out for it now that I know what it is;-))

Janey, your roses are absolutely gorgeous and thanks for sharing.....the blooms are so inspirational for a novice gardener as I.

Thanks everyone!! Sorry I've not been on, had a prob with the computer, but alls back to normal now.....:)). Don't you feel lost without it??

Yes the Graham Thomas really is amazing, I love the way it starts off deep gold then fades gradually to cream.....petals everywhere now, but still loads of flowers to open...:)). The clematis have grown so much, that the flowers are mainly out of sight, so that's something to remember next spring, they do need cutting right down to the ground.

Yes Dd.....Pauls scarlet looks just the same for weeks on end, then the flowers fade on the stems and need clipping off then., no scent though to speak of.

I'll have a look at Lady of Shallot, that would be a great name for it Liascuba!

Ha...ha Ba, it really is a beauty Paul, I bought 2 as they were labelled Albertine, but their definitely not that.

Thanks Sixpence.....me too, I always said I wouldn't grow roses here, but succumbed eventually!

Ha ha ....very droll BA ! Yo may have to search a long while to find that one!!!

16 Jul, 2013

Well the unknown Rose looks very much like Jude the Obscure......I think it's too pale for The Lady of Shalott Liascuba......

16 Jul, 2013

Yes Janey Lady of Shallot is bright coppery orange colour and Jude the Obscure is yellowish, but with a fantastic scent . If you put a pic on when she opens with approximate size, and it's an Austin rose, I should be able to identify her. Sorry Paul, couldn't resist it:-))

Janey, exuse me but I think you made a mistake between Gertrude Jekyll and Pink Perpetua.
Can it be?
