Hello everyone,

Where oh where has the sun gone… We haven’t seen the sun here for just about two weeks now. I think it’s going to be blinding when it finally comes out. It stopped raining today just long enough for me to set up the new rain barrel that I purchased and to take a stroll through the front and back garden to see what’s going on. I’m kind of amazed that I have as many plants blooming as I do despite the lack of sun. It will still be a while before the greater majority of plants bloom but it was very enjoyable to see what I do have blooming as I walked through the gardens.

My little garden helper Maxi came along with me for my walk. She loves being outside especially after been stuck in the house all winter. Here are a few pictures of the front garden. I’m amazed at the size ov my Hosta this year. I did feed them a lot during the summer last year. I’m also very pleased with all the plants around the round lawn as half of them were planted last summer and the rest a couple months ago…

At the moment I have more plants in flower in the back garden. This is a wonderful year for roses. I have never seen so many flower buds. This year is the third growing season that I give them Epsom Salts. They seem to love it. The foliage is very green and healthy. I give each bush or climber a galon three times during the growing season. 1 tsp. to the gallon. By the first and seconbd week in July, the back garden should be bursting with color.

HAPPY gardening everyone…

Oh, you have lost the sun too! Ours has gone missing too, lots of rain instead.
I am happy though for the rain, as the garden was crying out for it, even the grass was scorched with the very hot sun we have had lately.

Have a good day!

Hello and thanks for the compliments everyone. The sun actually came out today. Great to see it. We had very heavy rain during the night and the new rain barrel was ful this morning. I hope the sun sticks around for a while so plants can start blooming.

Thanks for the Epsom salts tip, Mike! I have used them to get stalled African violets to bloom, but never thought to try on roses...
