A May Walk

I hope Hywel does not mind, but his Blog with pictures of a walk round his village made me wonder if people would be interested in seeing the kind of area where we walk most days.

Walking through the fields up towards Offa’s Dyke.

Looking towards south Shropshire

A very large, now disused quarry outside Welshpool.

Looking toward a small town called Trefonnen.

Ducks hidden by plants on a small lake along the way.

The river Morda

Lovely to have a stream like this beside one’s garden.

The road home

The final style.

Beautiful blog. I am sure Hywel will be proud.

I enjoyed my walk 'with' you. I love this area of Britain. I have walked on some bits of Offa's Dyke. A brilliant defensive structure. I think it was to keep the English out!

Or to keep the Welsh in?
Actually since there is little or no evidence for it being either fortified nor patrolled, it was more like a Customs barrier than a military defence.

First reaction was surprise at how flat the landscape is - but then the lovely hills soon appeared. Love the little river - running water adds such a lot to landscape, especially when its overhung by trees - its as good as any tranquilliser! Long may you enjoy it all.

You would not say it was flat when you walk up the lane next to us. It is a bit flatter once you reach the top of the hills I suppose. The images do not really give a good idea of the slope.

Lovely area, and I love the little stream bubbling over the rocks 🙂.

Why would I mind ? You live in a beautiful area with lovely rural views, I enjoyed your photos. It's nice to see the different places where people live.

I agree with Hywel, it's nice to see the places where people live. I enjoy the walks put on GoY, so thank you for taking us round this lovely area. I haven't been to any part of Offa's Dyke. Have walked along Welock Edge though, don't know if that is anywhere near.

One of the distant views is Wenlock Edge. Not sure which one though. Can also see The Wrekin.
