A Derbyshire Break with Goy Friends

Just thought I would add on to Bloomers blog by showing you a few more pictures of our fantastic break together, Wonderful weather , Fantastic place and the Greatest of Company.

Our first stop on our journey to Biggin was Buxton famous for its Spa Water and Baths. The old part of the town is lovely with the Pavillion Garden and park, after a wander around the old town and the smart shopping area, we stopped for a lunch break before continuing on our way.

Buxton Pavillion Gardens

The park was lovely with its old ornate Bandstand and the river flowing through.

The Ducks were very friendly too!

We continued our journey along leafy lanes with the beautiful English countryside on either side, the roads were very quiet and it was so nice to sit back and enjoy the lovely scenery.
It wasnt long before we reached our destination and were checking into Biggin Hall, a grade 11* listed historic 17th Century building situated in 8 acres of wonderful countryside.

Our accomadation was in the Courtyard 30yds from the Hall and was spacious and comfortable.

The Resident Geese were snoozing on the lawn ready to greet us.

After parking our luggage we met up again in the garden to enjoy a drink befofore Dinner

Dancing Partners (Sandra and Russell) ;0)

Posing for the Camera (Harry and I)

After a huge Dinner, it was time to relax and enjoy in the cosy lounge.

Harry first in line for breakfast and what a breakfast it was!

We set off heading for the town of Bakewell famous for its Bakewell Tarts!
We came across the The Royal British Legion Gardens which made a nice interesting detour from the busy streets.

Then it was time for a mid morning break and Suprise, Suprise look what we found!
Bloomers very own Tea rooms and Courtyard;0)

Our next visit was to Haddon Hall one of the finest 12th Century Medieval Homes in England, owned by the Manners family. The first glimpse!

One of the many fine and interesting rooms which is still used on occasions today by the owners.

The next very pretty village we visited was Hartington it has its own Cheese factory and a lovely duck pond where we passed a couple of very pleasant hours.

All too soon it was time for us to leave for home, But Russell had given thought to planning the homeward journey to include a visit to Castleton our last port of call. there was lots of interesting things to see including these pretty cottages , shops and Tea rooms and the famous Peak Cavern, we didnt venture in but what an awesome sight!

Peak Cavern { maybe next time } ;0)

Well folks thats the end of the tour , except to say a big Thank You to Sandra and Russell for their friendship and excellent company and for making this a holiday a very special one with lots of fond memories.

Hope you have enjoyed our tour in Derbyshire and hope you will join us on our Cruise in November.

What a lovely time you all had....looking forwards to going on a cruise, I,ve not been on one unless you count the cross channel ferry!

The Manners family are they part of the Belvoir Castle family?
The Duke and his family stay there, I,d gone with a friend once and the children were running around with some friends we were told.

I know its a beautiful area and so many places of interest, so pleased the weather was good for you all, the Manners are connected with both I think, through marriage centuries back, think its in my book from Belvior.
Lovely photo`s Pansy, looking forward to your cruise as well, however I think Bloomer should practice more on that bike and lose the L plates first......

Thanks Lincs for the information and your nice comments, I agree couldnt let Bloomer free on the Streets of Bakewel she will have to polish up her cycling skills first she would cause Mayhem lol

Lovely blog Carole, I won't mention how much longer it is than Bloomers (lazy thing) lol. So good to see you all enjoying yourselves although I'm not sure how I feel about all this swapping of partners ....I'm very broad minded, but ........

Thanks Ba, you should give it a try a change is as good as a rest lol
No room for Bloomers ballgowns then if you are travelling in her Trunk she will have to make do with Bikini's all week and that will cause quite a stir ;0))

Thanks Jilli a great place to visit and not too far away;0)

16 Sep, 2012

You've given me an idea.. for those of us NOT able to go on cruises etc, (lucky things) perhaps we could organise 'Natter and Nogging' meetings in certain areas where those who live in the 'catchment' could meet up socially.
We could perhaps have a meeting up once per season at a suitable venue.
It would be a great chance to meet each other, swop tips, stories, seed, cuttings etc etc.
What do you think?

16 Sep, 2012

Sounds a great idea, perhaphs if you write a blog to test the warer with other members it could take off big style, I like the idea very much Waddy;0)))
