Visit from posse of Fieldfares

I was blessed with a visit of a group of over 20 Fieldfares who stripped my crabapple of all fruits within a matter of minutes! Winds up to 40 mph and snowdrifts in some places making roads impassable! I’m staying put. *Oops have only just seen Dawnaunt’s blog on her Fieldfares! Apologies for duplication but they are beautiful birds we don’t get see very often!

Never get too many blogs about Fieldfares amsterdam! They are beautiful birds and well worth losing your crabapples for, (Oops! that sounds a bit suggestive, but you know what I mean).

Thanks guys. I spent some time watching them from my summerhouse. The resident blackbirds were trying to fight them off as the interlopers were stripping all the berries!

Always lovely to see blogs and the Fieldfares are special aren't they, don't get them here although daughter sees them every winter, they come to raid a tree that is just over the road from her house, gets very excited when they arrive and never fails to tell me....

Hi Amsterdam, I'm pleased you had them visit too, strange how they only visit when it's snowy, looks like your crab apple tree brought them into your garden and they were attracted to the holly berries in mine.

Just had a wonder outside this check the garden after the snow and all the crabapples have fallen off and are now littering the patio. That’s another job to do- sweep up the fruits although I’ll leave some for the birds. Posted a picture on my photo’s.

Now the snow has melted everywhere looks a bit grubby here. Hopefully the other birds will clear your crab apples up.
