My garden

Hi there. I realised looking back at my photo’s I’ve never written a blog showing all my garden? In case you’re interested I’ve taken a few pictures showing that lovely fresh green spring foliage. We start out on the old patio in back garden and end up on front garden. Enjoy!

I like the two big trees in pic six … are they apples?

You have a beautiful garden, Ams., and I love your older trees. They add real character. Your newest border is filling out well. I hope you'll do another post in the high summer to show us the layout again.

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes the two old trees are apple trees, one is a cooking apple, the other an eating apple. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of work to keep the garden in check. It keeps me out of trouble and helps with my mental health, escaping to my private oasis…..

Lovely garden shots, Amsterdam. Very interesting garden all round, lots of variety and I do like the way the path meanders and it leads you to another lovely area.
Your beds and borders are brimming with lush plants, I have to agree, your trees are really something! Underplanting looks pretty good too! Pretty summerhouse at the back!
Thanks for sharing your lovely garden with us, enjoyed the tour!

Very pretty Amsterdam - and not a weed in sight!

Amsterdam you must spend a lot of time in your garden to keep it looking so good - grass areas are so neat and tidy and borders look full of interest - well done

There are plenty of weeds hiding everywhere!! Look at the old patio where the pieris is situated…. I do find weeding quite therapeutic. This time of year is when my garden looks at its best, butlater on when daffodils die down and I get the typical August gaps in my border it won’t look this great. It goes through phases and this phase is when it’s at its best. By August it’s started to look quite haggard.

wow what a lovely garden Amsterdam. I really enjoyed my tour, such interesting layout and planting. The paths are pretty and lead you on a good meander. I showed hubby your blog and all your pots and his comment was 'not bad but don't get any ideas'. Now just let me explain- 'when a Yorkshire man says not bad it means there is nowt better'. So a real compliment from him.
yes please do updates through the year.

Ahh thank you Seaburngirl, that’s very kind of you. It’s nice to get positive feedback from fellow gardeners as nobody in my family gardens and I make it up as I go along…..

First of all I do apologize, I've just found out that my comments are disappearing again, it happens sometimes and really winds me up, so I'll repeat what I think I said, lol....
That is my kind of garden Ams, I really enjoyed my meander around that windy pathway, your garden is huge isn't it, I like the long borders all full and lush, the beds in various places, like little rooms, it has a lot of character and I love it..
.I know exactly what you mean about the gap in the summer, it happens here as well and who cares if there are a few weeds hereabouts, some jobs have to come last on a list of priories especially when one has a big garden, the way I see it , if weeds don't grow then you'll probably struggle with keeping your plants for a long while and be forever buying and planting more........

That’s frustrating Lincslass that your comments keep on disappearing! Thank you for your kind comments, it is indeed a large garden and a lot of work! Jobs get done as and when as I still work full time. On top of that I’m getting ready for my charity plant sale. Will try to remember to post pictures as we go through the summer & autumn.

I love your garden, Ams, so much to see and enjoy! I honestly hadn't realised quite how big it is ... it certainly shows that you enjoy gardening.

Have only shown you the back garden and not even the front! I do feel sometimes I’m a slave to the garden and would like somebody to give mea hand with grass cutting & edges which I hate doing. It does give me so much joy and sense of satisfaction and fulfilment but I am feeling it after working in the garden for a while….

Perhaps have the grass cut and edged fortnightly by a gardener? That would be a help for you!

Yes Shirley tulip- that’s my plan….
