Mason Bee story

we had a similar thing with bird boxes. they ignored the new ones and used the tatty old ones instead. I wonder if the new smell puts them off? I bet they get used next year though.

Lol typical reminds me of giving the kids their Christmas presents but would rather play with the box it came out of. I am sure other critters will find use of your new one at least you have the mason bees visiting even if its in the old boxes.

Gosh, wildlife can be so unpredictable! Fussy beggars aren’t they! They can still surprise us that’s for sure!

If I was looking for a new home, I would prefer one that had been lived in with that nice homely feel too:-) My daughter has a bees nest underneath her shed, she told me they were bumble bees. I had a wasp nest years ago at the end of my garden. I spent hours watching them and was amazed to see that they dance like bees:-)

Just discovered two wasps best in my old conifer hedge but won’t be removing them as they’re not causing any harm. (Yet) Been watching them gnawing wood off fence panels that they make unto a pulp to make their nest. Fascinating. Also, they are good to have in the garden so for now I’m leaving them to it!

I left mine too, they were no problem and the aphids suffered loss:-)
