Stolen wheelbarrow

I was rejoicing in the fact that I had received so many gifts this year in return for the apples I had been leaving out in my wheelbarrow at the end of my drive. However, when I walked back from work thus week I found it my wheelbarrow had been taken! I was so sad, cross and lots of other emotions going through my head. I had for 8 years or more left my wheelbarrow out without a thought and had so many lovely comments from villagers dropping by. A fellow gardening friend suggested I put what happened on our village facebook page to get everyone looking out for it. Unfortunately it has so far not been found or returned. But I have had so many reactions from villagers on-line and those who walk past my house everyday. I have been donated a rather old broken one and am not sure how to fix one handle that has rusted off, but it’s the thought that counts!! I have already started planning my plant sale for next year in aid of Severn Hospice and Mind and this will not stop me. Just thought I’d share…..
Pleased to report that Santa brought me a lovely lilac wheelbarrow- rather distinctive and possibly less likely to be taken by a passerby….

that is so disappointing isn't it. Hopefully who ever took it will feel a prick of conscience and return it under the cover of darkness.

That's really annoying Ams, some folk are just heartless!

It's a shame how some people think that stuff left outside is theirs for the taking. But you have some kind hearted people in the village & the wheelbarrow, though broken, was a good gesture.

That’s what I was thinking.... might ask Father Christmas for a bright pink new one!!

Sorry to hear that but you never know it could be returned, this happened to a plot holder on our allotment a few weeks back, her old rusted wheel barrow taken, she was livid and bought a new one and would you believe it, five weeks later it was back leaning up against her shed, so it may be that someone had wheeled all the apples to their place and are going to bring it back for you.

That's a rotten trick, doesn't it make you sick? Somebody walked into our garden (and its a long way from the end of the drive,)and helped himself to a quantity of wood chippings. I hope you end up with really splendid top quality barrow very soon!

Amsterdam, how awful! Why would someone or some people do such a horrible thing? I wonder if it was someone passing through the village? I appreciate your emotions, anger and sadness combined...
As my Mum says, what goes around comes around...
Hope you replace wheelbarrow soon, with an even better one!!

Appalled at the meanness of some people, its stealing, I too would have been livid, I know one shouldn't think of vengeance but I hope who ever took it had something happen to them whilst stealing it, not really bad or evil, possibly the wheel fall off or something, just enough to make them regret their actions.......

It's so sad that this has happened. It makes me feel angry. I'm glad you have support from local people, and a donation of another barrow even if it has a broken handle..

Yes it is so sad and angers me greatly but it has brought villagers closer together.

Makes you despair, doesn't it, how mean-minded some people can be. It takes your breath away when something like this happens as it wouldn't occur to most people to even think of stealing stuff. At least in the future you can use the broken wheelbarrow you have been given to put your apples in, secure in the knowledge that someone is unlikely to snaffle that one..
