Rain, rain?!!

Though despite a day of dark cloud, we still haven’t had any rain for months now. The soil is dusty and dry. Planted achillea ‘cerise queen’, the liatris spicata (though I still don’t know which is the roots and the top!), the spindly geranium ’Johnson’s Blue’, and other primula denticulata red, and a lovely bronze fennel. Must go now and water the plants – again!!

WE ARE HAVING SOME DRIZZLING RAIN THIS VERY MOMENT. ONLY ENOUGH TO WET THE PATIO I SUPPOSE. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY PROPER RAIN FOR MANY MONTHS. I WATER THE WHOLE OF MY GARDEN TWICE A WEEK AND I AM ON A WATER METER. GOD HELP ME WHEN THE WATER STATEMENT ARRIVES.

Yay, here it rained steadily for a good 20min today after which the sun came out and dried it up again, sigh,
never mind every little helps.
I`ve put a like as had to smile at you not knowing which way up with the plant, I remember years ago not knowing which was the correct way with my first ever anenomes, a wise man once told me not to worry as my plants would always grow towards the light, lol.

Same here in East Sussex Aneagillis some of my perennials are really suffering now.

I hear you, I feel for you, my brother lives in Kent, he tells me the same thing too. Though we got some unexpected rain this afternoon, nothing to write home about :((( We have not had rain in months too, I have only watered the new plants I have recently bought, the rest are reaching deep down below, they must be getting something as they are smiling and producing :)))
Coshad I hope He helps you, I am on a meter too, not my choice, I inherited it. Every drop that goes out of the tap is like looking at pounds falling... :((((

...We had our second thunderstorm, in 3 months, today; puddles everywhere! Wonderful!
I filled every container I could find (buckets to beer bottles) from the water butts so that the butts wouldn't overflow. In the pouring rain I stood plants from the greenhouse outside (just as well we've no neighbours otherwise I'm sure they'd think me mad..
BTW...It clouded over just as I was getting ready to use the brushcutter on the nettles and briars. I've figured out that, if there's a chore that can only be done in dry conditions, it'll bring on the rain.

I am forever watering mine. It gets pretty annoying. Especially as I don't have a hose.

I live in south west Wales and we've had some light showers lately. However it hasn't made much diference. The ground is still dry and dusty. But I only water things that look desparate. It's too much to do it all. The other things have to manage

Still no rain! I wanted to get a water meter but couldn't - because we are semi-detached and our meter is the same as our neighbours - or something!!! Anyway, after being told we couldn't, I calmed myself by having a very long bath!!
I hate using so much water, we have bought a water butt recently but there is nothing in it yet! But unfortunately this year is the year I really became fascinated by planting, and all my little perennials are indeed little, with little root systems that need constant watering. The sun has been lovely, admittedly, but it would be nice to have rain at night! Sadly, the slugs and snails seem to increase their vigour in the evenings, I hate to be a killer, but I wish they would leave my lettuces and strawberries alone!

I wouldn't want a water meter. A friend of my mother ended up paying more, and she started flushing the toilet once a day. I wouldn't like that :(

I know how you feel about the rain - we haven't had any apart from a few spots (and I do mean a few spots) for several months now. The ground is very hard and almost impossible to dig. To even put new plants in I have to soak the oil for several nights to enable me to remove the soil for planting.
I've just set some Bronze Fennel in that I've grown from seed and don't really hold out much hope for them as they are a bit pindly, but they are such lovely plants when fully grown and the smell on a hot sunny day is fantastic. They also look good in patio pots as well.
