A year in a new garden

I’ve put in so many plants in the year we’ve been here and already the garden looks like it’s loved. Which it is, of course. I currently have a lovely clump of Hesperus Matronalis flowering and giving off its lovely scent; the wallflowers are still blooming, and the Geums are just beginning to flower. The pachycarpus is still a pretty lime green and is in flower beside the purple Senetti which, though still in bloom, is starting to look a little droopy. Hopefully it won’t be long before the Alliums, now big with buds, are in flower.
Many years ago a friend gave me a little clump of pink Oxalis, a piece of which has travelled to every garden we’ve had. It flowers constantly all through the summer and will take all kinds of neglect. A very good doer.
My Camassias (brought with me) are very late this year but they take a little while to get established. I first saw these growing wild on the roadsides of Madeira and I fell in love at first sight. My only disappointment is that though they look as if they are scented they aren’t. They are still beautiful.

When I said I have a pachycarpus I meant I have a physocarpus. Not much difference is there!
Have just bought a new one with lovely red leaves and pink flowers.
