Euphorbia polychroma

A month ago I bought this plant because it was such a bright splash of colour and isn’t supposed to be quite as invasive as the other Euphorbias.
I have though found a problem: the darned starlings (I think) seem to have great fun breaking off the flower stalks and scattering them one by one (or two) onto the lawn. I now only have one bloom left on the whole plant.
Is it the young birds? Wish I knew but they aren’t getting any more food from me until the little vandals can behave themselves.

If it isn't birds then I must have some badly behaved fairies in my garden!

Oh dear......similar fate to my Stipa Tennuissima....the sparrows stripped them for nesting material.
